I have just posted a comment in the newsletter to do with the use of pear chutney and realised once I had sent it, it may be that a ploughman's lunch doesn't travel from the UK so before anyone asks here are the things I use in a ploughman's lunch. I just prepare one platter for the two of us, but of course you could make individual ones or even a huge platter for a buffet.
Things You’ll Need for a Ploughman‘s Lunch:
2 slices Cheddar Cheese 2 slices Stilton Cheese 3 slices Wheat or White Bread Slab of Butter 1 slice of Brie Cheese 1 Hard Boiled Egg 2 slices of cold meat (ham, salaami, etc.) 2-3 Baby Beetroot 1 tablespoon Pickled onions or pickled dill 2 tablespoons Branston pickle OR pear chutney/relish Mayonnaise
Certain ingredients can be left out and others put in as you prefer.
Arrange nicely on a plate

P.S There is an excellent spiced Bramble(Blackberry) Chutney on the jams/preserves board, that is wonderful with this lunch:

I want to encourage youngsters (male or female) to get into the kitchen and enjoy cooking. TASTE it! |
