1 Tbsp shortening, margarine or butter 4 lb pot roast salt and pepper 1 onion, minced 1 bay leaf 1 cup water
Heat cooker and add shortening. Brown roast on all sides. Season with salt, pepper, onions and bay leaf; add water. Close cover securely. place regulator on vent pipe. bring up to pressure and cook for 45 with regulator rocking slowly. Let pressure drop of its own accord. Thicken gravy if desired. Add your own favourite seasonings. We usually let the pressure drop and then add potatoes and some extra water, start the cooking process all over and cook for 12 minutes.
