hi all...well alittle off the food subject but a message/advice was posted by barbara in corsican tx (hi barbara i'm in allen north of dallas!) on june 13 2006 pg. 2 to a phyllis in phoenix (june 9th 2006 pg.1) about her tile floors streaking. barbara has a cleaning business and was using alcohol and water in a spray bottle (3/4 alcohol to 1/4 water) with a swiffer type mop/sweeper, which barbara also uses on her laminate wood flloors (not real wood) which is my problem...even vinegar and water are not cleaning as well. but i wanted to know if anyone knows or hopefully barbara sees this...what type of alcohol... rubbing or isopropyl and what strength...comes in all kind of percentages the isopropyl at least. any help will be appreciated as i am having a terrible time keeping the laminate wood looking nice. but thats alot of alcohole and don't want to ruin the floors all the way. i have a big dog and he doesn't help matters any! thanks! janet in allen texas PS. i'm new or is there any way i can post this type of request in the daily newsletter postings in nancys kitchen area?

wow thanks all! alittle leery of using any kind of soap tho as they say that might dull the finish and really don't want to spend alot of time rinsing as you have to be so careful with liquids on this stuff. these are all great cleaners but i need one specifically for laminate wood floors...which are basically high tech "pictures" of wood on usually hard thick plastic backing not real wood at all but great looking and alot cheaper to boot. i went ahead and tried the other recipe with alcohol and water..alittle more water tho than the 1/4 to 3/4 alcohol that was originally given on an spare piece and nothing happened so i tried it on the floor in a corner and it worked very well. i am going to try your recipe cathy as far as the alcohol goes tho. as i said, i was using vinegar and water but it still wasn't doing the job i was expecting. but alot better than other store bought cleaners. at the store last night i looked and walmart had rubbing alcohol that was 70% so i bought some and will try this more. i also tried it with my swiffer on my tile floor and it looked good too. just found out i will be a grandma in march/april next year so looking for some cleaners. and want to thank you all for so much great advice. please post more if you have any ideas. have a good weekend all janet
