@@@@@ Bacon Onion Flavoring Mix
2 T. bacon bits or imitation bacon bits 2 cups crushed unsweetened wheat, corn or rice breakfast cereal 1 t. dried minced onion
If you are using fresh bacon, cook 2 slices over low heat until crispy. Drain and crumble. Combine all ingredients and store in a tightly covered container on your pantry shelf if you are using imitation bacon bits, and in the refrigerator if you are using real bacon. Mix will keep for up to 4 months. To Use: Combine 1/4 cup of the topping mix with 2T. melted butter. Crumble over casserole. Ideas: Top plain buttered noodles with the mix for extra flavor and crunch. Toss gently right before serving. This topping is also good with noodles and ground beef. Toss 1/4 cup of topping in with plain salad before adding the salad dressing. Makes 17 oz.
