from NancyKitty Was Just Wondering About the Simple Muffins <on Fri., 12/20/02, at 11:39am> ..........
Hello my Turbo cooking friend. I was reading your recipe for simple muffins, that you posted on July 25th, I was just wondering if you could use just a box muffin recipe following same turbo instructions. I did not get the turbo to reduce fat..I wanted "speed" lol
I don't really know how the message board works, new to it. But boy was I glad to see some Turbo stuff there !!! Thanks for your time and sorry it was such a silly question. Your friend in Denver Colorado, Nancy

I have checked into it and will make some changes on the recipe, that may help everyone with this. I am sure you could use a package mix, just as long as it is the same amount of mix you will be using from the recipe.

How the private messages section of all easy cookin works. When you log on...up at the top of the screen is a box that tells you where on the board you are at right now.... in that box, to the right is a note that says Hey, NancyKitty, you have 1 messages, 1 is new with that day's date right underneath it. Just click on the "1 messages" and it will bring up the private messages screen just click on the words listed under the subject area and that will bring up the private message. You can answer it right from that screen. And as far as thinking you were asking a silly question, I do not think there is such a thing, we all have them, and that is how we learn. Have a great day. I just received my turbo cooker and havent had the chance to make the cakes yet. I was wondering if the soda affected the flavor of the cake? Which type of soda will least affect the taste and can you replace carbonated water for the soda? Also I was wondering if there are any more recepies out there and where I could find them?

qt4ever422, I don't know that the soda flavor in itself changes the flavor of the cakes. Most of the cake recipes I have seen for the Turbo Cooker say to use diet soda. You need the soda to make the cake rise, if I am not mistaken. I would just tell you to try the carbonated water when you make a batch and be sure to let us know here so we may pass the information on. As to getting more recipes, I know you can buy a set of different recipe cards through the Turbo Cooker site. I do not remember how much they cost. However, there are some recipes posted just below in this section of the board, with Turbo Cooker/Quick Cooker Recipes as a sub category. There are 7 pages of recipes there. Just please do not copy to sell any of them. Some are my own, some are others. I have tried to change the format of the recipes a bit so they are easier to read/understand.

Have been enjoying my Turbo Cookers since last year. I have found used ones at thrift stores so now I have three. Leave one out at all times since I know I will be using it for meals. The first few times I used it was nervous now just adapt my own recipes without worrying about time. After awhile you will know when to keep the vent open or closed and how much water it will need. Everything comes out tastey & juicey.

To mlmcglo01, If you were shorted recipe cards, call the manufacturer, they should send them right out to you. What questions do you have concerning your cooker? Maybe one of us could help with an answer. carnation037

I just bought a Turbo, and sure do enjoy it. Has anyone, made the Chicken with stuffing balls? We'll it say's,to make the stuffing,by the directions on the box,so what I'm wondering is, do you make it,in a separate bowl,or do you make in the turbo?

Melissa, Since the directions say to make the stuffing according to the package's instructions....I would make it up just as if I were going to use it normally, as a side dish. How many recipe cards came with your new cooker? And did you get the cooker with the little timer and the newer cooking racks inside?

I have had my turbo cooker for a year now and love it. I have already bought another one to use at the same time. I find by adding a little oil to the pan when cooking meats & poultry they come better. The steam from the cover with the vent closed does the rest. _________ Sueanne

Its CHEAP, fast and fun. (I didn't think I would ever say that about cooking!) I do it exactly like the directions say. Only mod is...try to make the stuffing balls on the dry side. The Turbo cooker with moisten and cook them threw. Or get a small muffin pan, make muffins instead of stuffing. Mix the mix per the directions on the muffin box. Put the muffin pan in at the last 10 min. You wont believe how good the muffins come out! Also the carrots in the base come out as soft and tasty as sweet potatos. d**n! I'm going to make it agine tonight!

Paul30ca, You can go right to Chef Randall's site, <http://www.chefrandall.com/products/products.asp> and find what you are looking for there, I hope. I have not really had a chance to really check this new link out, but I do know it opens to the products page. Just click on what you are interested in, any questions, they have a link for that too. Have a great day.

Hi All, I use my turbo cooker when camping with our grandsons and would like to try a pineapple upside down cake for them on the next trip. Has anyone tried this with the brown sugar and pineapples? Using just a box mix, what changes should I make in the amount of liquid called for on the box? I thought about using a combination of ginger ale and the juice from the pineapple can instead of cola. Definitely not a natural at cooking (that's why I love the turbo), so would welcome all advice.
Thanks, Linda

Hi to everyone. Just joined a few minutes ago and I'm eager to hear from any and all.
As I'm writing this message, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival (via UPS) of my new Sunpentown-2001 Turbo Cooker which I ordered a few days ago. I let my fingers do the walking, via my computer key-board, trying to locate an outlet for turbo cookers in the Washington State area and couldn't find any.
Most of the cookers I found were only available on the web so I ordered mine through 'NewEgg' for $69.00. I particularly liked this model as it has a digital control panel, which I felt would be easier to keep clean vs. manual knobs (just more places for dirt, dust & grease to get into).
I really became interested in the TC after reading some material on Dr. Mercola's web site pertaining to the dangers of micro-wave ovens. Apparently, there have been documented studies of how micro-waves alter the biological structure of the foods we eat. It just can't be a good thing to put altered food into our bodies, but like most everyone else, I've been using a micro-wave oven for years.
On the other hand, I joke with all my friends at work that I have more kitchen toys then Emeril Lagasse. That doesn't make me a better cook, I just enjoy using and playing with the latest gadgets. Must be a 'guy-thing' huh?
One thing I'd like to know is where to locate some good cook books specifically for the TC. We're planning a visit to our local Barnes 'n Noble book store today, so I'll be checking there.
Thanks, 'kitchentoyguy' ............................. reply by carnation037 Moderator
re: TC cookbooks « Reply #1 on Jan 24, 2006, 7:49pm »
As far as I know, there aren't any Turbo Cooker cookbooks. The company that sells the turbo cooker sells, "recipe cards" so when you get your cooker, check out all the material that comes along with it. Please, if you do find a Turbo cooker cookbook, let us all know. Thanks Linda Carnation ............................

Thanks for the feedback Linda. I've been hunting all over (web, book stores, etc.) and cannot find cookbooks specifically printed for turbo-convection cookers. I prepared some teriyaki chicken breasts last night and they came out delicious. Only took about 15-minutes.
I'm already thinking about what to cook tonight using the Turbo Cooker.
Thanks, kitchentoyguy

I'm on my second turbo cooker. I love the way it cooks chicken or anything else without heating up the entire house! I am wondering if anyone has cooked a beef brisket in their turbo. Anyone have any helpful hints, experience to share?

I want to buy a turbo cooker or turbo oven for my two sons who do their own cooking. They cook a lot of steak and meats. Which one do you think would be better and easier for them to use--the cooker or the oven? Thanks, Linda

I don't understand the bench top thing unless you are talking about the rotissiere machine. What is the exact brand and model you are asking about?
