Hello from San Diego, CA. Hope everyone is planning a happy and relaxing Thanksgiving. Our weather here has finally gotten a little cooler and just a slight chance of rain. We sure could use it. It's always fun reading the emails from all of you. Hope Nancy is enjoying her vacation. She sure works hard for our enjoyment. And to all of you who have been posting the wonderful recipes. Thanks so much. Dee

Hi...I'm new here, but I love the site! I'm from south Alabama...a little town named Monroeville. Our "claim to fame" is that Harper Lee (who wrote "To Kill a Mockingbird") lives here, and her friend, Truman Capote, lived here, too.

Special Greetings to Jay, Gerry, War Eagle, Penny, Patti, Helen, Bobbiegirl, Fishrus, Shellie, Ellie, and Derah!, Thanks for sharing with us where you all are from! It is interesting to get to know people, and also get a chance to learn a bit about their home towns. Helen you said, "Isn't it wonderful that we all seem to sound like friends even though we haven't met." I have made some wonderful friends over the years, starting on Prodigy. One of my oldest internet friends, whose birthday turned out to be on the SAME day as mine, I met in Oct. 1990! I had just gotten a little puppy who two days after we got him had a seizure, so my husband had talked me into using the pet bb on Prodigy. It opened a WHOLE NEW WORLD for me, and no one has been able to pry me off of the computer since then. To this day, my special birthday friend and I share a warm close friendship, and soon I will be out gathering her gifts to send. She truly is a friend for LIFE, and I have the internet to thank for that! I always feel this way about the internet friends that I make... I may not be able to recognize your face in a crowd, but I'd probably be able to pick out your heart once I get to know you! (A little fried chicken grease behind your ears would also give me an edge! ;D !!!) Welcome to everyone, and I look forward to getting to know each one of you! Always With My Best, Baking Bud Moderator of Holiday Recipes

Baking_Bud, you said it perfectly, my story is a lot like yours but you got a big head start on me........ I have another board I visit very regularly and I have made several lifelong cyberfriends there and plan on always knowing them, I have only been associated with that board for a little over a year. The turning point for me was marrying a man (been 2 years now) that gives me total freedom on my very own computer. Our machines set side by side in my living room! If I break it, he fixes it! Everyone here sounds like great cyberfriends and I am so glad that I found this board. I love meeting new people and this technology is like an open highway! It is great to know I can come here and get terrific recipes and chat with some wonderful people too!

Hi Bobbiegirl!, Truly, I am amazed when I sit down and think about ALL of the cyber friends who I have made over the years. Some were through food bb's (one of my passions), and others through the pet bb's (my other!). I have cyber friends in Michigan, Arizona, Indiana, Texas, Oregon, Washington, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and MANY other places, who are regulars in my email. And I chat with them more, then I do friends right here. And I probably know more about their lives then my friends here too. Well, all but one, who has been my friend since Jr. High school. He and I shall always walk through life together! I think that the families who 'share' their computers, are the happiest ones. Isn't it nice having a source right there to fix your computer when it breaks! I have two, and hopeful the 3rd will get more skill under his belt. I'd go nuts if someone didn't quickly come to my rescue! (And they go hungry if someone doesn't!) Mean, aren't I ?!! Your name will be one that comes easily to me, for my sweet mother-in-law was also called Bobbie (proper name Barbara.) We lost her a few years ago, so it is nice to run into another Bobbie! The name makes me smile ! So, nice to meet you Bobbiegirl! We never can have too many cyber friends! Always With My Best, Baking Bud (moderator of Holiday Recipes)

Hello to all you sweet ladies. Although we now have a Pennsylvania mailing address, I will always be a Southerner at heart. I was raised in South Carolina and miss it terribly since our recent move here. I was looking for a recipe when I stumbled upon this board and am so very glad I did. You see, we are trying to "create traditions". On March 15th we were blessed with a wonderful little girl through the miracle of a generous heart and kind spirit. Molly was born to us via Surrogacy and we will be eternally grateful to our dear Teresa and her family for this amazing gift. One of the things I want Molly to remember when she is grown is cookie baking on cold days. I know this sounds silly, but it is so important to me that she have these traditions to build her own family on. Thanks to all of you for allowing me to chat with you.
