:)Lena in Illinois was looking for a Pear Pie Recipe. Here is mine, I hope that she enjoys making and eating it as much as my family does. Topping: 2/3 cup flour 5 tablespoons butter softened 3/4 cup oatmeal 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar pinch of salt
Pear Filing 6 large pears, peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch long by 1/2 inch thick pieces 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 taspoons vanilla 1/3 cup light brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon pinch ground cloves 4 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch. 1 9 inch pie shell unbaked
In a food processor, combine the flour, butter, oats, dark brown sugar, and salt. Pulse until the mixture starts to hold together, then set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix pears, lemon juice, vanilla, light brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and cornstarch, toss to combine.
Pour pear mixture into unbaked pie crust. Cover with topping. Turn oven down to 325 degrees and bake the pie until the top is golden brown and the pears are tender, 70 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
ENJOY

Hi Dixiemist, Welcome to Nancy's Message Boards. Great to have you on board. Not to sure if Lena in Illinois will know that her requested recipe is on the boards. Of course you may have already posted this link to the boards on the next newsletter. If you go back to the newsletter where you read Lena's request for a Pear Pie (which sounds yummy) you can either copy the recipe to her there or even quote the link to this board: whatscookin.proboards4.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Pie&thread=23636&page=1 It may sound difficult, but it isn't. Just ask for help if you need it. Sylvia446
