The temperatures here in Scotland have been relative mild today, dropping slowly as the day went on - now 2oC.
I have had a wondrous day with all the Family, despite the credit crunch we have eaten very well (some more than others) and Santa was incredibly generous and the whole Family were surprised and delighted with how knowledgeable he could be in meeting their wishes.
We all managed to get together around the dining table for a wonderful meal - thanks to the DH his turkeys were moist and delicious, even though he was pulling his hair out that they wouldn't be as good as in previous years. It was goooood!
We shared family stories and Angela, the mother of my two grandchildren, and I, heard some hair-raising stories of the antics that took place when our families were younger and mine much younger and we all reminisced and remembered family members that were unfortunately no longer with us.
It was nice how various members of the family would disappear out into the garden on this clear moonlight night and just enjoy the quietness, apart from Ollie the owl, Ollie has been hooting back and forwards for many years and letting us know that our woods are actually his/hers. Taylor my 10 year old grandson loves my old rocking chair on the porch and his Mum got into a panic at one stage - where's Taylor, she had checked the study and I said head to the porch and sure enough there he was with his earphones in, rocking for Scotland and playing his new Rayman on the Nintendo DS.
All-in-all it was a wonderful day and I have to say at 11.40pm on Christmas night, I am well and truly ready for a good night's sleep.
Will we do it again - if the DH is willing to cook the turkeys - YES!
Hope you all have had a great day.
Best Wishes
Sylvia
