Couldn't find anywhere where "sauces" were listed so am plunking my request here!....lolol
Does anyone happen to have a recipe for a Butterscotch sauce that is cooked? (Plz do NOT confuse my request for a "Brown Sugar" sauce..I already have that one).
The one I am looking for the one that uses carnation milk.......I think!
I have checked their site but nothing seems to trigger the memory bank from about 45 years ago & when I made this often for over ice cream!
Thank you in advance.......

Hi canadianshewolf, Welcome to Nancy's message boards. This is a Salad dressings and Sauces board, which is where I found this recipe, unfortunately without the milk that you mentioned: BUTTERSCOTCH SAUCE 1 egg yolk, beaten 4 tablespoons butter ¼ cup water 2/3 cups brown sugar 1/3 cup corn syrup ¼ cup flour Combine all ingredients and mix well. Cook in top of double boiler over hot water until thickened, stirring frequently. Serve hot or cold over cake, gingerbread, bread pudding, or ice cream. The best place to ask for help in finding a recipe is on the newsletter; sent out 6 days per week: www.nancyskitchen.com/2009July/jul-12-2009.htmlI suggest that you have a look at the Rules and regs on the boards, mostly to do with copyright and advertising. Hi canadianshewolf, I came across an old fashioned Butterscotch Sauce on About.Com, southern food, not sure whether we can post their recipes, but you can have a look and see if it's the sauce you are looking for. If so, you can copy it for your own use: southernfood.about.com/od/dessertsaucerecipes/r/bl30622o.htmSylvia

Hi Chris,
Yes, I know there are some sites that we can post from, but a few mention only so many per year. It's too time consuming to try and find out how many recipes have been copied from their sites in a 12 month period. So if in doubt it is simpler and quicker to post the link.
I did check the sites we could copy recipes from, couldn't find any mention of About.com. Maybe I need some new glasses.

Hmmmm, sorry about that Sylvia! I haven't added any for a couple of years. You were right in just posting the link if you don't know. I have sent in recipes from about.com to the newsletter, though, and Nancy must have got permission. Think there are only 2 we have to be careful on and one is allrecipes.com. Sorry about my misleading you!

Hi Chris,
No harm done. Just hope that the Old Fashioned Butterscotch Sauce is the one that canadianshewolf was looking for.
