Herbed Rice Mix
1 16oz. box long grain rice 2 c. dried celery flakes 2/3 c. dried minced onion 1/2 c. dried parsley flakes 2 tbsp. dried chives 1 tbsp. dried tarragon 3 - 4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. pepper.
Use 5, 1 quart wide mouth jars. Combine the rice, the celery flakes, the minced onion, the parsley flakes, the chives, the tarragon, the salt and the pepper together in a bowl and mix. Pour 2 cups of the mix into each 1 quart jar, packing firmly. Seal, decorate the jar, and attach the recipe tag.
Herbed Rice You will need: 5 1/3 c. water 1 tbsp. butter Place the water and butter in a pot and bring to a boil. Add the rice mix. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let stand a few minutes until the water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork. Serve.

Curried Rice Mix
1/4 c. raisins 1 c. long grain rice 1 crumbled chicken bouillon cube 2 tbsps. dried minced onion 1/2 tsp. curry powder
Use a 1/2 pint wide mouth jar. Pack each layer. Mix the bouillon, onion and curry together and set aside. Dump the raisins in the jar, then the rice, and then the spice mixture. Seal and decorate, and attach the recipe tag.
Curried Rice You will need: 2 1/2 c. water Bring the water to a boil. Add the contents of the jar and stir. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serves 5-6. Make as a side dish for pork or chicken.
