6 to 7 lb very small green tomatoes 8 cups water 3 cups white vinegar 1 cup salt 3 hot peppers, finely chopped 6 sprigs fresh dill (optional) 6 cloves garlic (optional)
Wash tomatoes; dry. Mix water, vinegar and salt in saucepan; bring to a boil. Place tomatoes in hot, sterilized jars with peppers, dill and garlic. Fill jars with boiling vinegar mixture to 1 inch from top. Seal jars with lids immediately. (MAKES 6 TO 8 QUARTS)
