This is in response to NancyC's request for the 1960's era recipe. Finally found it!!! This was in Betty Crocker's Bisquick Cookbook printed in 1971, Bisquick, Gold Medal Bisquick Cookbook printed in 1971. Copyright General Mills. Inc. Chris in NM Peanut Butter Cookies 1 c. peanut butter 1/4 c. shortening 1/2 c. granulated (white) sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed 1/3 c. water 2 c. Bisquick baking mix Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix peanut butter, shortening, sugars and water: stir in baking mix. Shape dough by scant teaspoonfuls into balls. Place on ungreassed baking sheet. With fork dipped in flour, flatten in crisscross pattern. Bake 5 to 7 minutes. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies
