<P>NEW YEARS DAY BLACK EYE PEAS
2 lbs. Dried black eye peas 1 lb. bacon (diced) 1 onion (diced) water to cover salt pepper
Wash and look through black eye peas. Cover with water and let soak overnight. Before cooking, drain and rinse. In a big dutch oven add all the ingredients. Make sure to cover the black eye peas good. Put on stove and let simmer for a couple of hours. You may have to add more water during the cooking time.
CORNBREAD:
1¼ c. flour ¾ c. yellow cornmeal ¼ c. sugar 2 t. baking powder ½ t. salt 1 c. milk ¼ c. vegetable oil (I use canola oil) 1 egg, beaten
Heat oven to 400º <br>Spray a 8" or 9" pan with non-stick cooking spray Combine dry ingredients. Stir in milk, oil and egg, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until light golden brown and wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.

You're suppose to have good luck all year if you have Black Eyed Peas on New Year's Day.
