I have a passion (spelled "obsession") for eBay and recently let it get away from me. Bid on and won a bunch of jeans. About 14 pair. None of them are good enough to wear. Well, I'll revise that. There is one pair that I could cut off into shorts for our little girl if I could remember where they are for the next 6+ years. ;D
Anyway...... Does anybody have any ideas of things I could do with these jeans? Any craft ideas???
Thanks so much in advance. I know there is a ton of talent here and I am counting on you sweet ladies.

Denim craft projects
Don't throw away those old jeans. Cut them into 4 1/2 inch squares of any color jeans and set aside until you have enough for a project. You can use them to make bedspreads, pillow cases or covers, chair covers, bags or totes for carrying groceries instead of using the plastic ones from the store, hats. Use your imagination. An excellent way to recycle old denim.
If you embroider, you could make a design with one of those markers that disappear after washing on some of the squares with different colored thread(s) before you sew the blocks together.

To go with carnation-jean quilts are great! as are spreads for picnics. If you just cut off the legs then take the top and sew up the leg holes. make a strap and its an easy sturdy tote. For the beach or park. I left a few pockets on and use them to hold untensils & napkins on my picnic spread. good luck & mostly have fun. Terri

WOW!! So many good ideas. I am going to need to go back to eBay for more jeans. ;D
I used one pair to make a bear for Molly. I just used a "Ginger Bread Man" kind of a pattern. Since I am totally uncrafty, I traced a ginger bread man cookie cutter and then took it to the copy store and enlarged it until it was about 6" high. It is so cute I may try a real bear next.
I used some of the leftover material (this was all out of the leg) for the same design, but smaller and stuffed this little bear as well. He is only 3" tall and will be cute for tie backs on her curtain if I ever get around to making another.
Thanks so much for all the good ideas and please keep 'em coming.

Do like me and remove yourself from that E-Bay fast. It will ruin you. It almost did me in. I was buying and buying, most of the things I did not and will never need. Some of the things were not even what I tought So, the best thing you can do is make the best of the jeans (with all the crafts ideas that were sent to you) and delete yourself from E-bay before you end up with more useless items that do end up being costly in the end. Just a suggestion. Micheline

Hi Michelene, I know eBay can be an obsession and I even jokingly referred to it that way. But, the only way I can stay home with our dear little Molly and not go back to work is via our little up and coming website and eBay. You see, I make cloth diapers and a few other things and offer them for sale via the (still not completed) website and eBay. I do sell a few other places as well. When someone admires Molly's hat, I make sure to point out that I made it. Ditto her mittens. Word of mouth has been a great help, but eBay continues to pay the bills. Before Molly came along I worked in a high power, high paying position. Long hours and lots of time on the road. The decision to completely quit was difficult but has been so worthwhile. Someone said to me one time, "You have the most glamorous job. You eat all of your meals out, get to stay in motels 5+ nights a week and travel." I replied, "Those are the 3 things I hate most about my job, now what are the glamorous parts?" Being home with Molly has been amazing.

Sorry, I did now see the whole picture. I too stayed at home with my boys and never regretted it.
You will cherish the fact that you were there with your children through all their growing years. Your children will be better persons for it.

Hi there Shortcake, Thanks so much for the inspiration. I am a way older first time Mom and so tremendously grateful for the opportunity to stay home with Molly. Realizing that not everyone is so fortunate, we do struggle sometimes. That is why I work so hard to make a go of my hats, mitts and diapers. With an 11 month old it can be challenging to find the time (not to mention energy) to even get started some days. Molly is pretty patient and helps me immensely by taking care of all the scraps of fleece. Michelene, any pointers you can give me about eBay would be so appreciated. Thanks to everybody who answered so far.

The best advice I can give you is read carefully, and don't be afraid to ask questions, even if they seem very stupid.
Remember, you will the one looking stupid if the material is not what you expected.
Hope this helps

Ok - so you are looking for jeans? What about the thrift stores? Costs tons less and, actually, much nicer! I just love to go to thrift stores! I have bought - for pennies, actually - lots of blouses and tops at thrift stores. You can take your children, too!!!!! Also, you can also take anything you want to sell. They do it all on consignment - at least down here in southern NM.
Good luck girls!!
Chris
