I've always been an avid reader and have been known to buy a book for one recipe, one idea, one article. Just recently I went through my all my cookbooks, looked at the books on my coffee table, in the bookshelf, thought about those stored in boxes due to lack of space. We have a pretty good collection of everything and quite some time ago I came to the conclusion that it was pointless to keep buying more books (other than Patricia Cornwell oh and of course those super finds of really old cookbooks that deserve to be saved and loved again that we find at markets and second hand shops. And why? because I can find anything I want on the net, it's such a library all on it's own! I've not once been unable to find what I was searching for. I treasure my books but I've given up another addiction ;D and rplaced it with another love the net!

Hi Homemade!,
I agree, I love the net too! My passion was more into medical issues when I first came on, due to my last dog's epilepsy. Talk about a LONELY world, even with what your Vet's tell you. I have learned more about epilepsy from friends, then any Vet could ever tell me. And that includes the wonderful insight from a nurse who saw us pet owners talking about it, and joined in. She, her husband and son, all had epilepsy, so she was a valuable source of comfort. Seeing your pet have a seizure, twists YOUR heart in pain. She gave reason to the fact that it was painless while they were seizing, and that helped me so much to get him through each one.
As far as recipes, there are tons for ALL that you want to do! I still buy cookbooks but they are more dealing with techniques now, or fast and easy. My book collection is unbelievable... And I love every one of them!
Yes, learning on the net is WONDERFUL. Only had one bad experience when trying to look at trellis designs. That is where I ran into a PLANTED VIRUS, and it KILLED my computer. Shut me down cold... I was SO upset, but my son and husband said there are risks out there too!
Always With My Best, Baking Bud

Enjoy our reading while you can. I used to love reading. I would get lost in a book for hours. Now, due to a concentration problem (lack of concentration) I can no longer do this. I can barely read the messages on the board and remember what I read. I can hardly do anything for more than 15-30 minutes. So, Enjoy reading while you can and please read a few pages for me. I really miss this activity.

I was sorry to read of your pet's epilepsy and I whilst the net is a great source of information so are books, other people also contribute a wealth of other information as you mentioned. And yes! those viruses are terrible even with a virus checker we can still be vulnerable. I've been really busy this past week or so and haven't even thought about checking the forum hence my delay in posting a reply. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have limited concentration Micheline, my thoughts go out to you.
