Hi everyone, I am new to this board, I just found it tonight while I was searching for crock pot recipes. I have a question that I was hoping someone could answer for me. Can I cook a 6-7 pound turkey breast in the crock pot. How long would I go about cooking it and would I do it on high or low. If you could help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Hi Michelle and welcome to Nancy's Kitchen Message Board!
Yes you can! In one of the little booklets that came with our crock pot it says:
Thoroughly wash turkey breast (this is for a 3 - 4 lb. one) and pat dry - patting dry assures good browning). Sprinkle avity generously with salt, pepper and parsley. Place in crock pot, dot with butter. Sprinkle with parsley and basil if desired. Cover and cook on high 1 hour, then low 8 - 10 hours. The same goes for chicken, too! Good luck! For a larger one, such as yours, you may want to keep it on high another hour or so, then on low. Looks like an all day project for the crock pot. Of course, you could start the night before and that would be even better!!!!

Hi Michelle, May I also welcome you to Nancy's Kitchen! Glad to have you join us. I am posting a link to CD Kitchen. To my knowledge we do not have permission to share the recipes posted on their site. (Chris, please correct me if I am mistaken.) This tried and true recipe calls for a 6 1/2 pound turkey breast. When the page opens, scroll about half way down to find the recipe for Savory Turkey Breast, from Betty Crocker Slow Cooker Meals. Please note that the contributor used a 5 quart crockpot. The meal did not need to cook for 9 hours. www.cdkitchen.com/rfr/data/2003/1/1041870762.shtmlHere is a contribution made to pub17.ezboard.com/fwhatscookinfrm4.showMessage?topicID=4.topic in response to a request for non-beef crockpot recipes. From Unregistered User (1/12/01 12:23 pm) Reply Turkey Breast " I have cooked a whole turkey breast in my crockpot/slow cooker and it turns out wonderful. I have a 6 quart and the breast fits perfectly. Do not add water but season the turkey generously. Cooked it for 8 hours, 4 hours at high and 4 hours at low. " Here is another site you might find helpful: Scroll down to find the recipe for Roasted Turkey Breast Stuffed w/Herbs www.thecookinginn.com/crock1.htmlAnd one more...http://jessicas-swansong.com/recipes1.html Scroll down the page and look for Smokey Crockpot Turkey. Jessica gives it a two star rating. She stated that the recipe came off a placemat at The Cracker Barrel restaurant. "You never know where the good stuff might turn up!" The low rating is because she misses her grandma's cooking. In addition to the information above, I have read elsewhere that a smaller amount of turkey breast works best in most crockpots. I am guessing that it would be best to follow general guidelines pertaining to the level of the ingredients to be placed in a crockpot for best results. Good luck, -Shortcake

Hi everyone, I just wanted to thank those of you who took the time to answer my question. I was going to try the turkey in my crockpot yesterday, but mine was to small, so I guess I am going to have to get a bigger one before I try it. Thanks again for your help.
