Being a newly diagnosed diabetic I am thinking about attending educational classes for diabetics. The class is 10 hours and are expensive.
My question today, if anyone has taken this class is it worth the money? Are they well taught? I have so many unanswered questions and need help understanding sugar, carbs, fat; foods that are good for you or not good.

All your questions can be answered at this web site for free. I was diagnosed as a diabetic April 5/2007 and took the clases but they are FREE in Canada. This is the guide they use and it is the same in the USA. www.diabetes.ca/section_about/food.asp

I took the classes. It cost me $10 each class, and I could go to the ones I felt I needed versus all of them. Of course there were only 6 classes total anyway. It did provide alot of info and if I was newly dx with no prior knowledge of DM2 it would have been a HUGE help. I come from a family of diabetics so I knew/understood all of the class info beforehand. The good thing about the classes is that you have access to professionals that will in depth answer questions for you.
