Hot Dog Sauce
No plain dogs here please! Nice topping to turn an otherwise boring hot dog into a yummy meal addition!
1 large onion, chopped
2 lb. ground hamburger or ground turkey> sprinkle all liberally with French's Worcestershire sauce
Fry together and chop up until fine.
Add:
1/2 -1 tsp. chili powder (again, up to your desired ZING!)
1 sm. can Hunts tomato sauce
1 tsp. sugar (optional, but I like to blend out the tartness!)
Salt to your family's desired level
Directions: Cook slowly for about 1 hour.
NOTE: If too tangy for your tastebuds, you can always add some plain ketchup to blend down the flavor! My rule of thumb is that you can always add more of something, so tread carefully until you 'lock in' your desired tastes on any recipe! Make your own notes on a new recipe, to tweek it into what your family likes!
Toppings you could have on the side: shredded cheese ('s) , more finely chopped onions, etc...
And ALWAYS as a note of caution: Change out whatever utensils you are using while frying, etc., after you have gotten the meat to lose its redness... At that point I always grab a fresh spatula or large cooking spoon, to finish my dish with. Same when making scrambled eggs > when they start holding their shape, change to a fresh utensil to finish the job! Or transfering meat to a barbecue, same principals of switching forks, platters the uncooked meat was on, etc. applies! You just don't want to transfer 'anything' from an uncooked whatever, to a cooked something else! Think you'll get my message!
