From Nancys News Letter March 12th, 2003
For Patti, who wanted a recipe for red cinnamon apples, I'm not quite sure what she was looking for but this is the recipe that I always use. It's very tasty!
CINNAMON APPLES
4 tart apples, sliced 1/2 cup water 1 cup sugar 1/2 lb. red cinnamon candies* Pare, core and slice the apples into eighths. Combine water, sugar and candy in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, until sugar and candy are dissolved. Add sliced apples, reduce heat slightly, and cook until the apples are soft.
*Since "red hots" are not available in your area, I think that any small cinnamon candy of that sort may be used. If using the cinnamon disc-type candy, crush the candies with a kitchen mallet to dissolve quicker in the syrup mixture.
Patricia, who also loves cats! =^^=
