2 cups water 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup red cinnamon hard candies (the little red ones) 4 apples (one pound)
Combine sugar, candies and 2 cups of water in a skillet. Stir over medium heat until the sugar and candies dissolve. Core the apples and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch rings, and add to the syrup. Simmer gently until transparent but not soft. Cool in syrup.
