Try freezing -- this is so-o-o easy and not so overwhelming when you have an abundance of pears.
While preparing my daily meals, I peel and cut up enough pears to fill a 3 quart microwave-safe dish. Place in microwave (no sugar or other ingredients). I zap it 8 minutes. Stir. Zap another 8 minutes. Pack in freezer containers and freeze.
Pears are so naturally sweet; I like them just like this; but you can use them in other ways. One good way is mix with apples for pies.
