When I was a 'new' bride...Hunt's sold Tomato Sauce with recipes on the can. This was the best Spanish Rice.
SPANISH RICE
4 slices Bacon, diced 1/2 cup chopped onion 2 cups Quick-Cooking rice (I use Minute Rice) 1 1/2 cups water 1 15oz can Hunt's Tomato Sauce 1/2 cup chopped green pepper 1 tsp salt 1 tsp brown sugar, packed 1/2 tsp chili powder Cook bacon and onion in a 10 inch skillet until bacon is crisp and onion is tender; drain fat. Add remaining ingredients, mix well. Bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes; stir occasionally. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes before serving....makes 4 to 6 servings Note: 1 cup of Shredded Cheddar cheese may be added during the last 5 minutes
