Spaghetti Sauce
28 oz. can crushed tomatoes 12 oz. can tomato paste 16 oz. can tomato sauce 2-3 c. hot water 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning 1 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. basil 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper 1/8 tsp. black pepper 1 tsp. salt 1 lb. ground beef 5 Italian sausages, or 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage 1 lg. onion, diced 2-3 cloves garlic 1 bell pepper, chopped 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced or quartered
Combine first 10 ingredients; allow to simmer at least 1/2 hour.
While sauce is simmering, brown ground beef, onion and garlic. If bulk sausage is used, brown with ground beef. Drain meat mixture. Add to tomato mixture. If sausage links are used, cut into 1-inch pieces and add to sauce. Add bell pepper and allow to simmer 1-2 hours. Add mushrooms and simmer an additional 1/2 hour. Serve with spaghetti noodles, or can be used to make lasagna.
