Aussie Meat Pies Ingredients 1 onion chopped — 2 tablespoons oil — 1 lb meat diced 1 1/2 cups beef stock or 1 cup water and 2 stock cubes Salt and pepper to taste — 3 Tablespoons plain flour Sheets of bought pre-rolled puff pastry Method 1. Sauté onion in the oil 2. Add the meat and stir fry til brown 3. Add stock and seasonings, put on lid and simmer gently about 30 minutes or until steak is tender 4. Thicken with the flour which has been mixed with cold water to form a smooth paste. 5. Cut pastry sheets into quarters and line a small greased pie tin with one quarter fill with meat mixture and baste the edges with a little beaten egg mixed with cold milk. 6. Place another quarter sheet of pastry on top pressing edges to seal. Make a small cross type slit in the centre and repeat process with remaining pastry sheets and meat mixture. Or if preferred one large pie can be made using the same process but with 2 complete sheets of pastry. 7. Bake in a fairly hot oven til pastry is golden brown and cooked through. 8. Serve with chips and gravy.
