Nancy, I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family!!! Below is what I found for one of your newsletter readers in June of this year who asked for English Pasties from the UP of Michigan. It is posted in the Beef section of the Message Board. Hope this comes close to what she is looking for!
I don't know who asked for this in the newsletter, but it has been a long time. Below is the recipe - very old - that a friend got from his daughter's Mother-in-law - who lives in the UP of Michigan. It is her recipe for Michigan's UP Pasties. Hope this is it!!!!!! Pasties:
MEAT 1 lb. hamburger - raw 2 large potatoes, cut small 1 onion, chopped 3 carrots, cut small salt & pepper
Mix together and set aside.
CRUST: 1 tbl. milk 3/4 c. plus 2 tbl. Crisco 2 1/4 c. Wondra flour 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. hot water
Mix with elec. mixer the milk, Crisco, water until creamy. Add flour and salt and mix by hand until it holds it's shape. Roll out pie crust between 22 sheets of wax paper.
Seal meat mixture between the 2 crusts in pie pan.
Bake for 1 hr. at 350 degrees.
