Hi Nancy, I was wondering if anyone can tell me what cake flour is. I would like to make a recipe that calls for this and I have no idea what it is. Thank you for a wonderful site! Have a very Merry Christmas. Diane

Cake flour is in a box in the supermarkets. I believe that the name of it is Softasilk. It says cake flour right on it and you should be able to find it around all the Pillsbury flours and Betty Crocker flours. Hope this helps.

Hi Diane, While Linda in Grass Valley is correct in her explanation that you should be able to find a box of Softasilk Cake Flour in the baking aisle of your local supermarket, here is a convenient rule of thumb for substituting all-purpose flour for cake flour. No cake flour? For 1 cup of cake flour, sift together 7/8 cup all-purpose flour and 2 tablespoons cornstarch.
