I have the same Salton Yogurt Maker, could be from the 1970's, have had it forever. All you have to do is look in the ingredients list on pasturized yogurt in the store, and look for the words ACTIVE LIVE CULTURES, and use that yogurt, plain or vanilla is best then add your own fruit after the yogurt is done. I haven't made yogurt in years, but it is good and works. Sometimes I add a couple tablespoons of dry instant milk to the mixture, as it helps to thicken it a little more unless you like it soft.
