Now, this is not a low fat recipe, so overweight parrots should not be eating this to avoid fatty liver disease...
1 cup almond butter 1/4 cup millet 1/4 cup flax 1/4 cup sesame seeds 2 tbls real peanut butter (this means ingredients say "peanuts") jar of baby food peas 1/2 cup apple sauce 1/2 cup pomegranate/blueberry/cranberry juice (again, not 'thingytail', pure juice -no sweeteners, flavours etc) 2 eggs, shells and all finely minces, or pureed broccoli baby food carrots baby food yams cooked pinto beans (not canned unless salt free) grated carrot finely chopped apple or raisins (craisins are good too)
enough whole wheat flour (stone ground is better) to hold it together in a stiff ball.
Roll into 'fingers' (about 1//4inch wide and 3 inches long) or into small 'balls' and place on a cookie sheet. Bake about 20 mins at 350.
Let them cool, put into a freezer bag and take out two days worth at a time. Store in fridge. Give them one or two a day. This is a great way to sneak nutrients into a fussy eater. I add all the carrot and yam and such because my bird won't eat orange food and vitamin A is so important... but if yours won't eat greens, or anything else, puree it and add it in. It takes a couple offerings for them to realize it's yummy food then WATCH OUT! I make 3 months at a time up!!!
