This is especially for Frenzy, if you have a look at the link of the GB map you will see Aberdeen and Glasgow marked - I live just to the right of the Glasgow marker. I was looking for suppliers of "stinking bishop" a relatively new cheese in the UK - it seemingly has to be strapped to the roof rack of the car as it is so smelly. Here is the link: www.foodloversbritain.com/search/keywords/cheese/?gclid=CICXwOSFqZQCFQbclAod1h5ctQSylvia446 Update 24th October 2008: As so often happens, this site has changed since I initially recommended it. The map that I referred to is no longer the opening sequence, but it is still worth having a look at the site.

Hi Smittie,
Like your sense of humour, I would like to taste the stinking bishop. I am a bit of a cheese freak. It would seem my granddaughter Katy is following in my footsteps she puts cheese on everything (within reason). Back to the cheese there has been a lot of publicity during the last year about this relatively new cheese. It is seemingly marinated in pear juice, the intrepid maker of the cheese also has a pear orchard. He seemingly refuses to make more than a certain amount of it no matter how popular it becomes. Hence the difficulty in procuring some for little xxx me to taste.
As a matter of interest did you find the Map of any interest? There is a lot of good info for Brits there. I thought it might be useful for people paying a visit to the UK - so they could find out if there is anything of special culinary interest in the area they are visiting.
I can personally recommend Whispering Pass' Caramel Shortbread. For a special treat try a slice covered in warm custard as a pudding. We call it Millionaire's Shortbread.
Take care

Hi Sylvia
Well I'll confess that I wouldn't mind trying the stinking bishop myself although I doubt I'll have the opportunity to. I'm open to trying new food, even if it smells bad,lol I have marinated cubed, cheddar cheese and ,although it was kind of slimy when taken from the brine,it had a very good taste.
I enjoyed viewing the map and have it book marked.
The Millionaire's Shortbread sounds delicious! I am going to try it this week-end and will let you know how it turned out but I know it will be great! smittie in Alabama

Hi Judy, glad to hear you are adventurous with food. I have never marinated cheese - something you have made me think about. Could be interesting?!?
It would seem there's more chance of you tasting Stinking Bishop than me. I have phoned, emailed, txtd with no joy. But as 007 says never say never.
I am still finding new things on the map - I maybe should have called it a culinary map of GB.
If you have the time have a look at Maria's (Greek Mama) posts not only on the Scottish Forum but on past newsletters - if you type in Maria Zakynthos on the search box (about 1/4 way down the newsletter) and click Nancy's kitchen, you will find some wonderful true to life stories. She loves Scotland and the Scots as much as I love Greece and the Greeks. If prices relax a little we may even return to mosquito hell in September.
Take care Sylvia446
