Hi Lynn,
I usually make my version of this soup with fresh red tomatoes. It is now 19th August and not a single ripe tomato on my vines - little or no sunshine to ripen them.
I gave your version a try yesterday and it's gooood! Will be making this again and again.

Hi again Sue,
I certainly haven't had fried green tomatoes, was there a film called something similar to this.
It will be interesting to hear if Lynn has a recipe, maybe it's already on the boards. I'll have a look later.
I can recommend giving this soup a try.

Hi Sylvia: Yes, there is a movie called "Fried Green Tomatoes". Kathy Bates stars in along with others. My Mom takes green tomatoes, slices them , batters them and deep fries them. Drain on paper towels. Easy and delicious. She uses SR flour, one egg and a little water to make batter. I'll get exact measurements from her. Sue
