I just got a new range with black glass top. What is the best way to keep it shiny and new looking. I'm getting a lot of streaks even after using the ceramic stove top cleaner.

Hello and welcome! I also have a smooth top that is black. I always wipe it down with a cotton towel after cleaning it and I get no streaks. Also, occasionally I do use vinegar over the stove top after cleaning it. That always dries quickly and leaves no residue nor streaking! Good luck

Thanks Chris in NM. Due to the illness and passing of my dad, I had gotten so far behind in reading the newsletters, so I have spent part of the afternoon catching up from back in October. Couldn't believe the subject of cleaning the glass top stoves was addressed in several of the letters. I have gotten some good tips, but I like the idea of the vinegar since it is a natural product. Thanks again!

Hi Auburn,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad, takes time to come to terms with the death of a loved one. Try to remember all the good times..
I get the impression that you would rather make use of natural products for cleaning etc. I live in the country and have a private water supply and a septic tank, so I am very careful what I use. I too have a black ceramic glass cooking top and I use a cloth soaked in white vinegar and dip it into a mound of bicarbonate (baking) soda to remove spills, rinse well, then polish with window cleaner. I also use this mixture on the inside of my oven door - it's quite good - the oven door opens down and once a month I give it a good clean with a paste made up as above.
Happy cooking followed by even happier cleaning.

Hi Sylvia, thank you for your condolences on my dad's passing. He had been sick for a long time, and we know he is now in a better place and all his pain is gone.
I also live in the country and have a septic tank and like to use natural products when I can. Thanks again for the vinegar and baking soda tip. Next time I let something boil over I will try this.
