You can save a lot of money by flavouring your own nuts. The tiny jars of flavoured nuts are extortionate.
For family gatherings, I usually double up these amounts. There's never any left!
Spiced Cashews
Preheat oven to 150oC/300oF
10 oz/275g unsalted cashew nuts 1 oz/25g butter, melted 1/2 tsp/2.5ml salt 2 tsp/10ml soy sauce few drops Tabasco
Mix together all the ingredients in a bowl. Spoon evenly onto edged baking sheets or sheets of foil.
Bake for 15 - 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. Cool.
Can be stored in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
