Sausage Stuffed French Loaves Great hot or cold. Perfect for picnics and after hors
d'orves.
2 long loaves French bread
8 oz. ground Italian sausage
8 oz. ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, diced
1 egg
1 tea. dijon mustard
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
salt and black pepper
2 tab. butter or margarine
garlic salt or powder
Preheat oven to 400°. <br> Cut off ends of loaves and set aside. Hollow out the loaves
with your
fingers.
Process the soft bread in a food processor to coarse
crumbs.
Brown sausage, beef and onion over medium heat.
Combine bread crumbs, meat mixture, egg, mustard, parsley,
salt and pepper
to taste, in a large bowl. Spoon this mixture into the
bread shells and
attach the ends with toothpicks or skewers.
Melt butter and season with garlic salt or powder.
brush tops of loaves and wrap each of them in foil, leaving
slightly open at
the top
Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until heated through.
Slice into 1 inch slices or desired size.
