this recipe will make homemade biscuits or griddle flour bread..
Ingredients:
2 C. Self Rising Flour .5-1 C Buttermilk approx. 2.5-3 Tbsp Lard (manteca, pig fat, or crisco(tm) shortening) maybe even a little more lard. Making biscuits is a feel, not an exact science or measurement...these are great!
In a large metal bowl combine flour, lard, buttermilk mix with clean hands, you may have to add a little more buttermilk, as you want a wet mixture that stick to your fingers while mixing.
On a clean countertop, flour counter, flour rolling pin, lay damp mixture on counter, dust with more flour and roll, use a juice glass to cut our biscuits, lay in baking pan, bake at 400 degrees, 8-12 minutes, then turn to broil and brown.
Or for griddle bread, roll out dough, use a cast iron skillet, well oiled, lay flour cake into skillet on med heat, brown, then flip over aned brown other side. remove from skillet, butter and enjoy.
