Hi Voyager, my name is Joan. It is more helpful if you have bought the paperback book that Atkins has out to get a idea on how to start the diet. It does have menus also. I will be glad to help. I'm learning as I go too. I have been on the diet for 5 weeks now with GREAT results. Better than I ever imagined. Seriously. I have picked up great tips, hints, and menus from a couple of other websites. It's a little confusing to start but I found that after the 2nd week things are falling into place and cooking is actually a breeze! Let me know what questions you may have. Joan

Hi... My name if Nancy and i have been on this diet for 1 week and have lost 6#'s... I am a big meat eater and so it is easy for me...You really do need the book though... I have tried this diet 3 other times and i guess i am just more determined this time and i do believe is will work... I have read the book and chapter of it over and over.. I use a lot of sweetener and i just found out the other day not to use the ones that contain Aspartame.. the only one i have found that does not contain that is Splenda....JUst little things like that may make a difference ... I have exercise so i do not do that yet... Maybe when it really gets nice i will...I am one of those lazy ones... I also use my Ketostix ever morning when i get up and i have made it into the large level...So let me know now your doing and if you have any questions just ask... As my friend Joan saids, "one day at a time"...Have a good one and be good to youself..Nancy

Hi Kim, My name is Joan and somewhere out there is Nancy who is also doing the low carb diet. I personally find it easy. Once I got over the first 2 weeks and re-read the Atkins paperback (I still refer to that book). Once I got over the sugar, flour cravings it was alot easier. I recommend reading the book and do the induction for at least 2 weeks. I plan on doing induction for at least 6 months. After at least the 2 weeks you can start adding fruit (any of the berries, low carb diet candy bars and treats). Also check out www.atkinsfriends.com as they have great receipes and ideas. To order low carb foods I have had great service with www.netrition.com . Also make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. Walking is a help too. Feel free to write with any questions you may have. Joan

Hi, I'm an Atkins fan, too and have lost about 20 some pounds since Feb 15. Some things that have helped me include • reading the Atkins paperback New Atkins book several times. The answers are all there but we're not always open to hearing everything at once.
• promising myself that this time I'll lose and keep it off, and I can't break a promise to myself or who else is going to trust me? It's a great incentive not to cheat.
• sometimes it's impossible or you make a mistake with something you eat. Move on, don't back yourself into corners and be ready next time. Never say, "you deserve it just this once." Your health, your body, your self esteem are all telling you that you deserve good health and a good weight suitable for your body.

Men have more spectacular results than women. So don't beat yourself up ever if comparing to a man's loss. I've lost 30 pounds now, since Feb and am moving to my goal weight, so it's slowed down. I can't say often enough: read Atkin's book several times. Have exercise programs that work for you. Maybe you can dance to a favourite tape in the morning for 15 minutes, go for a swim, walk for a half hour, go the mall and speed walk--no window shopping.(go before stores open, stay away from the food floor)
No excuses, not even company is coming for dinner. You don't break the rules for anyone. Only cannibals have people over for dinner.
Be strong, determined and take those measurements because when the weight doesn't move, your measurements might. I've gone from a size 16 to a size 10 and does that ever feel great!
