Welcome greetings to everyone. My name is Linda and I am a new moderator for this category on the board. I have been avidly searching and adding recipes for my own, and some of my friends use, for quite a while now. So, if there is something specific you are looking for, just ask; and I will do my best to find it for you. Thank you for visiting and have a good day. - - - - - If you are searching for a specific recipe, please place your request here. Include the name if known, and/or any ingredients that may be in the recipe. When the recipe has been posted, I will move it to the regular part of the board. Thank you for your co operation. - - - - - Re: finding newly posted recipes note* - New postings are always listed on the last pages of a group. Just click on the last page of that group and work backwards to find new recipes. - - - - - I have tried to divide recipes into different specific groups, hoping this would make it much easier to find a specific recipe, in a group, with some pages. Rather than trying to find a specific recipe in one super large group with many, many pages. However, there are drawbacks to this. If the poster is not posting the recipe, themselves, as a reply to that group, then, when I copy it into the group, readers are unable to contact that person with any questions as the in site "send this member a private message" does not go with the recipe when I copy it. I have, personally, looked up someone I needed to contact by looking in another section of the board and emailing from there with a specific question. Most recipes are posted by the same people and they have recipes in almost all sections of the board so this might be the way to go if it is necessary to contact that member. It is also possible to look up members on the member listing, using the alphabet to look that person up, or the top posters. However, more than half of the members do not have a contact address listed so that may not work. Comments or suggestions about this format are welcomed. Thank you.

Need a recipe for Sweet Pickles made with Dill
Lisa40 « Thread started on: 10/05/02 at 4:28pm » <br> I have lost the recipe for sweet pickles. All I can remember is you pour out the juice of the dill pickles and add the ingredients for sweet pickles and let them sit in the refrigerator.

Canning question from newsletter: When canning and the instructions say to put in a hot water bath, or process, does the water come over the jars, or just up to the rim, of the lid ?? Exactly how much water should be used? Thank you, Christina

some replies for Christina from 3/10's newsletter
Hi, Nancy This is for Christina. When canning the hot water bath way, jars, lids and all are completely covered with water. Marisa .....
This is for Christina who wanted to know if she should cover the cans in a water bath canner. Yes, she should cover the cans with at least two inches of water. Sandee .....
For the boiling water bath, the jars need to be covered completely over the lids. If it is something you need to boil for quite a while, keep a pan of extra water boiling hot and add if the water level lowers. Be sure to keep your jars covered with water. Start timing as soon as the water comes to a full rolling boil. It is best to start with warm water. Place your holder rack in the pan and set your jars in the rack. Make sure the jars are covered. Be very careful when removing the jars. Most racks have a notch in them that allows the jars to be lifted and the rack can be set on the edges of the pan. This is ok when setting the jars in, but can be dangerous when removing them in case it should slip and fall back in the water. The best thing to do is get a tool used to remove the jars. They look like a large curved set of tongs and are inexpensive. spread an absorbent towel on the counter to set the jars on until they cool. Verna

Last weekend while traveling, my husband and I stopped in a little general store. The store was selling jars of canned cobbler.
I have never seen completely ready to eat jars of cobbler before. I tried searching on the internet for a recipe to make my own, but the only thing I could find was a cobbler mix in a jar.
If anyone has seen a recipe for this, I would love to have it.
Thanks, Fancy

where can I get canning jars HI! I have a ? dose anyone out there know where you can get 1-qu. wide mouth canning jars for a good price? Where I'm, Mineville NY, the cheapest is 9.99 not counting tax. thanks JLW

Good morning bakensewjoey!
Walmart Supercenter sells all sizes of canning jars, so do grocery stores. I would think that Lowe's or Home Depot would also sell them. If there isn't a Supercenter close by, check out the regular WalMart or KMart. I don't know what they cost, but I do know they have a canning section. Good luck!

MarieAlice, I have a couple of questions. Do they have different relish recipes for hamburgers and hot dogs? I've been searching and the only one I've found is this one.
Relish, similar to Bick's 7 cups ground cucumbers 5 cups ground onions 1/4 cup pickling salt 3 to 4 large ground red and green peppers 15 to 20 pear tomatoes, peeled & pureed in food processor ...until like a sauce or paste 3 to 3 1/2 cups white vinegar 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed 1 1/2 tsp. allspice 2 cups hot water 1/2 to 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 to 3/4 cup cider vinegar 2 tsp. mustard seed 1 tsp. ground cloves 3 to 4 cups white sugar 3/4 cup flour
Mix first cucumbers, onions, salt and peppers in a large bowl. Let stand overnight and then drain. Cook all other ingredients in a large pot and boil for about 5 minutes. Add cucumber mixture and bring to a boil. *May add extra sugar, spices, vinegar to get desired taste. Boil for 15 minutes and pour into sterilized jars and seal. Makes 10 - 12 pints.

There are many pickle recipes listed in th is section, maybe one of those could help you. Is there a specific type of pickle you are trying to make? Maybe I can help find the recipe for you?
The most important is to hot water canning to the recipe's time and the jar sealing. The jars, tops/caps need to be cleaned beforehand too.
