8 c white bread, cubed (about 15 slices cubed in 1/2" cubes) 1# bulk sausage 1 large onion, diced 2 c chicken broth 2 large Washington apples (any variety), pared, cored and chopped into 1/2" or smaller pieces 1 tsp salt
Dry bread cubes in 250° oven for 10 minutes. Brown sausage in small amount of water in skillet; drain Add onion: cook 2 min. Stir in bread cubes, chicken broth, apples and salt. Combine thoroughly. Pour into well greased casserole dish and bake in 300° oven for 30 min. or until top crusts.
Note: This is GREAT with scrambled or fried eggs. Terrific as a meal or for breakfast
