Sauerkraut Casserole
1 pound mild Italian sausage links, cut into 1 inch pieces 1 large onion, cut into 1 inch slices 2 apples, peeled and quartered 1 can (27 oz) sauerkraut, undrained 1 cup water 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 2 tsp caraway seed snipped parsley, optional
In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender; drain. Stir in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seed. Transfer to a 2 1/2 qt baking dish, cover and bake at 350*F for 1 hour. Garnish with parsley if desired. Serves 6 to 8.
