1 to 2 cups vanilla ice cream 1 cup carbonated water, ginger ale, or lemon-lime carbonated beverage, chilled
Add a large spoonful of vanilla ice cream to a chilled 14- to 16-ounce glass. Add enough carbonated water, ginger ale, or lemon-lime carbonated beverage to half-fill the glass; stir gently to mix. Add one or two scoops more vanilla ice cream to ice cream mixture in glass. Fill with remaining carbonated water, ginger ale, or lemon-lime carbonated beverage. Makes 1 (14- to 16-ounce) serving.
Chocolate Soda: Prepare Vanilla Soda as above, except stir in 2 tablespoons chocolate-flavored syrup with the first spoonful of vanilla ice cream; mix well.
Double Chocolate Soda: Prepare Vanilla Soda as above, except substitute chocolate ice cream for the vanilla ice cream and stir in 2 tablespoons chocolate-flavored syrup with the first spoonful of chocolate ice cream; mix well.
