Nancy, My Older Sister used to make these for us kids and are kids. I don't know where she got them but it been in the family for a long long time. and they are mouth watering good
Butter Toffee Cookies Makes 5 dozen Serving size 1 cookie
1 cup sugar 3/4 cup butter 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 cups flour 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 cup English or almond toffee bit or chips Sugar for sprinkling while warm
preheat oven 350 Combine first 4 Ingredients in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, until creamy. reduce speed to low and add next 3 Ingredients. Beat until well mixed. Stir in Toffee bits by hand. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in sugar. Place about 2 inches apart onto un-greased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with bottom of glass to 1-1/2-inch circle.( if the glass sticks dip it into sugar.)
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. (DO NOT OVER BAKE) Sprinkle with sugar while warm.
