Crocked Applesauce
10 - 12 small baking apples (pippins + granny smith + ...) juice of 1/4 FRESH lemon (not bottled) 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. allspice 1/4 tsp. ground clove 1/8 tsp. ground cardamom 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 cup water
Mix all these ingredients and dump into your crockpot. Set on "low" and cook for about 6 - 8 hours (depends on the firmness of the apples). Mash slightly with vegetable masher or wooden spoon. Refrigerate.
This stuff is absolutely yummy! (Serve over vanilla ice cream or top with fresh whipped cream for a great dessert.)
