The recipe below for Freezer Slaw sounds close to what Max requested.
Freezer Slaw
1 medium cabbage, shredded 1 green pepper, finely chopped l carrot, grated 1/2 t salt 1 C vinegar 1/2 C water 2 C sugar 1 t celery seed 1 t mustard seed
Combine cabbage, green pepper and carrot. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and let stand one hour. Mix remaining ingredients and boil one minute. Let cool to lukewarm and pour over cabbage mixture. Put in containers and freeze.
