Applesauce Meatballs
2 slices bread *water to moisten bread 1 lb lean ground beef 1 egg 1 cup unsweetened applesauce 1 tbsp instance minced onion 1 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper 5 tbsp catsup
Moisten bread with the water and squeeze out well. Crumble bread into large bowl with ground beef, egg, applesauce, onion, salt and pepper. Mix lightly. Roll in balls and brown in a little margarine until done and serve. Put a fancy toothpick in each one and serve with tasty dips.

Wonder if Applesauce with a touch of cinnamon & nutmeg would do well also
