Vegetable oil 1 thick slice of Mozzarella cheese per serving 1 egg, beaten with a little water or milk Flour Seasoned bread crumbs Prepared tomato or marinara sauce Parsley (optional)
Pour oil into a heavy skillet about 1/2 inch deep and heat. Dip thick cheese slice into flour, then egg mixture, then bread crumbs. Carefully place prepared cheese slices into hot oil. Let one side brown (watch because they brown quickly), then with a fork and spatula, turn and allow second side to brown. Serve immediately topped with a spoonful of heated sauce. Garnish with parsley, if desired.

Hi Chief Cook!, Just going through recipes today to see what I might like to try in the New Year and saw this recipe of yours. My sons both LOVE fried mozzarella sticks, and they cost a fortune wherever you get them. This recipe actually looks like I can do it like the restaurants, so am going to give it a try! Thanks for posting it! Happy New Year !! Always With My Best, Baking Bud

I will let you know how they come out when I try them. Down at our local Pizza place, they charge $4.95 for 4 sticks! Is that highway robery or what?!! Trying to convince my 'brain' today that it is time to go back to low carbing. There is still SO MUCH candy, cookies, et all around here that I am feeling tempted. Just had a orange bell pepper sprinkled with garlic salt, and stuffed with cream cheese and sausage. And that is permitted on low carb! Still, nothing beats a GOOD sugar cookie when temptation knocks at the door! Read about your medical problem, and I will be holding out the best wishes for them to call you up soon and get the transplant over with. A friend's sister-in-law just had a kidney one done three weeks ago, and she feels great! I wish you all the best in a speedy recovery as we go into this next year. It WILL be a better one for you! Always With My Best, Baking Bud
