Baking_Bud asked for a recipe for this ... friends in the US told me that you folks don't have custard as we know it We can buy packets of custard powder that we just blend with hot milk and sugar. So a quick recipe for egg custard follows: 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup cream, 3 egg yolks, 1/3 cup caster sugar, 2 tsp cornflour, 1 tsp vanilla extract. Heat milk and cream until almost at boiling point and remove from heat. Whisk together egg yolks, sugar and cornflour in a heat proof bowl then slowly pour over milk/cream, whisk continuously. Return mix to pot and heat until it boils and thickens. Remove from heat then add vanilla. Serve over sliced banana, either, hot or cold. I prefer it warm with banana and cream. Is also great with apple pie or any sweet pastry, pudding etc . We use in on a lot of desserts.

Thanks for posting this homemade! I think it is always interesting to hear how cooking and baking differs from one country to the next. That custard powder sounds like a handy thing to have! Always With My Best, Baking Bud
