Hi Vintage 57
Welcome to Nancy's Message Boards.
I live in East Lothian too, it's nice to have a fellow Scot and we live within 10 miles of each other.
I did try to contact you when you first came on, if you go to the Scottish Message Board, there is a post there with your name on it.
I hope you enjoy all the recipes, comments etc., but just to keep yourself right you should have a look at the rules and regulations board.
Once again a warm welcome.

Hi Craftsowner,
Welcome to Nancy's Message Boards. I live in Scotland, just a few miles across the "pond"! I notice that you have decided to leave your email address available, you might want to reconsider that decision.
We have a great lot of members and will be there for you, pronto, if you need any help. There are a few rules that you may want to acquaint yourself with, mostly to do with good manners and advertising.
I hope you enjoy the recipes and chat and look forward to your participation on the message boards.

I just found this section, sounds like fun.
I'm Bill Dotson
I'm from Aberdeen, Ohio about 60 miles east of Cincinnati, across the river from Maysville, Kentucky, birthplace of Rosemary Clooney. I was beginning to think it was for females only but I saw at least one male so thought I would join in.

Hi Bill,
Welcome to Nancy's Message Boards. As you will see from the previous post I'm from East Lothian in Scotland. I presume you know that there is a large town in Scotland called Aberdeen (the granite city).
There are a lot of men on the newsletters and the message boards, a few have identified themselves and submitted some great recipes. Remember that the boards and newsletters can be accessed by guests and I think we would all be surprised at just how many males are taking advantage of all the information available.
Once again a warm welcome, we all look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks Sylvia, are you still making sourdough bread with the starter I posted? I have started another starter that doesn't have all the sugar in it , have two loaves of bread and we like it to so that will help a little with the sugar content. Bill

Hi Bill,
I made three loaves and 10 rolls all told from the original starter you posted. Good bread!!mmm.
I like your adventurous spirit, I'm not at the stage where I feel that I should mess about with sour dough starters. I, and I'm sure all the members will benefit from your experiments. So please - let us have the details.
The weather has improved so the heating pad is now on holiday.

Hi Sylvia
Did you see the post about freezing you sourdough starter, I have been freezing my extra starter that I can't give away. This could come in handy if anyone might need several recipes at one time, what I have read says freezing doesn't hurt the yeast but too much heat will. I proved that my self the other day, was making rolls and turned the oven on to just warm it just like I always do but forgot to turn it off so it started to cook them I guess, they didn't rise . The dogs enjoyed them though. Sure is beautiful here today have to grt busy with the grass cutting, Bill

Morning Bill,
Thanks for the info. I had read your piece about freezing the starter, great tip.
I haven't been logging in as much as I used to. One of our family died and we have one of those long drawn out PM etc. the cremation took place yesterday a full 17 days after our initial loss. Hopefully we can back to as near normal as we can now.
I'm off to have a look at the down under site.

Good Morning Sylvia,
So sorry to hear of your loss, I am not good in these situations I never know what to say other than that. Hope you enjoy reading downunder I go there sometimes and just read. There is another good site (don't know about bread but just about anything else I think), it is cooks.com you might already know about it. Better get off here, hope everything calms down for you. I live in the Near North of Ontario, Canada, in a small Village between two cities-Huntsville and North Bay. We are a typical Village surrounded by many other Villages who thrive on their Fall Fairs. We are just getting into Spring here as we are in a Zone 5-6 so very creative in our planting and when it happens. Happy recipe hunting to all! Enjoy all the links.

Hello everyone! For all the new ones, Im Dee and I live in the southeastern tip of Illinois almost on the KY border. Nearest big towns would be Carbondale IL, Evansville IN, and Paducah KY. I grew up in Northwest Indiana so Im a hoosier at heart. Im a little out of place because I sound too northern for here, and too southern for my old stomping grounds around Lafayette, Rensselaer, Wheatfield, and DeMotte. :-/I love this site, and have been with Nancy for many years but I never have time to get on the message boards, so thats why it says Im a new member. Today is a real treat for me, since I found time to post a message! ;D Everyone have a great day and a wonderful time here with a great bunch of people! Huggs!
