Yield: 6 servings 1 cup granulated sugar 5-1/2 cups water, divided 1-1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 10 lemons) Lemon slices, for garnish In a saucepan, mix together sugar and 1/2 cup water; bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring with a wooden spoon, 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Strain syrup into a lidded glass jar. Let cool, then refrigerate. Pour the remaining 5 cups water and lemon juice into a large pitcher. Add about 3/4 cup of the syrup or more to taste. Reserve any remaining syrup for another batch. Stir well; pour over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with lemon slices. Per serving: 144 cals, no fat or chol or pro or fiber; 39g carb, 1mg sodium, 5mg calcium.
