1-1/2 lbs lamb or beef , cut into 2" cubes 1 Tbsp shortening 2 med onions chopped 4 c beef broth, OR 4 tsp beef bouillon with 4 c boiling hot water 3 med potatoes , peeled and sliced thinly 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 tsp celery seed 1/4 tsp marjoram leaves crushed 1/8 tsp thyme OR 1/4 tsp sweet basil & 1/4 tsp oregano 1 ( 10 oz ) pkg frozen peas 6 Tbsp flour, you might need to add a little bit of cornstarch if necessary to be thickened
In large skillet or slow cooking pot with browning unit , brown meat in shortening.
Combine browned meat in slow cooking pot (crockpot) with remaining ingredients except for the peas and the flour.
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat and potatoes are done.
Add the peas; then the flour; dissolve in 1/2 c cold water.
Turn control on high ; cover and cook on high for 15-20 minutes.
