Can also use beef, and ground turkey Browned ground pork is combined with canned white beans, green chilies, onions and garlic in this chicken stock based chili seasoned with oregano and cumin. Serve topped with grated jack cheese.
Prep Time: 15 Minutes Cook Time: 45 Minutes Ready In: 1 Hour Makes: 8 servings
Ingredients 1 pound ground pork,beef ,or ground turkey 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 onions, chopped 5 cloves garlic, chopped 2 (4 ounce) cans diced green chiles 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon dried oregano 4 cups chicken broth 1 (14.5 ounce) can great northern beans, rinsed and drained 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Directions 1. Cook and drain the pork.
2. In a large stockpot, saute onions and garlic in olive oil until transparent. Stir in the chilies, cumin, and oregano. Cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes more. Add broth, pork, and beans; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook uncovered for 20 minutes.
3. Remove from heat, and stir in the cheese until melted.

Hi!
I make this chili quite often in the winter, but I use chicken - the breast meat. So good and filling and warming!

Hi Chili is always a good food or comfort food in the winter time. A great warm-me up.Good idea about chicken breast . Do you cube the breat meat?

Yes, I cube the breast meat first and then let it all simmer in the crock pot for a few hours. I also use cannellini beans if I brown the chicken cubes first. We can't find the dry cannellini beans here. Oterwise I use northern and/or navy beans (dry). I will post mine for you!

Great !!! I can't wait I am on a Low Protein Diet and eat alot of chicken and turkey. Also Some fish. Unfortunately the reason for the low protein diet is that I need a kidney transplant.I'm on the list here in Pa.,but it goes to a matter of time and finding the right one. But Through my faith in God .I do beilieve in miracles. Sorry for the long story.But the more people prayer the better the chance of recovery. Thanks again for the info. And have a happy Thanksgiving of what is leftof the day.

Hey April, I'm glad that you think you will like it . I got alot of replies onit and some great tips . A nother lady sugguested to use cubed chickenthat she browns first. and I tought that sounded good. Someone else suggested to navy beans or northern beans and puts in the crock pot and cook on low for several hours.What do you think of these ideas. Good huh ,
