This is in reply to Jeanne Garrett who asked for the Bisquick recipe for Prairie Crescent Rolls. I have lots of the old books and found it in Betty Crocker's Bisquick Cookbook from 1971.
Prairie Crescents
1 pkg. active dry yeast 2/3 c. warm water (105 to 115 degrees) 2 tbl sugar 2 tbl. shortening 2 1/2 c. Bisquick baking mix soft butter or margarine
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in sugar, shortening and baking mix and beat vigorously. Turn dough onto floured board. Knead until smooth, about 20 times. Roll dough into 12-inch circle. Cut into 16 wedges. Roll up, beginning at rounded edge. Place rolls with points underneath on lightly greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 30 minutes. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. While hot, brush with butter. Makes 16 rolls.
